This Privacy Policy explains how CodeEdit ("the app", "we") handles information when you use the app. By using CodeEdit you agree to this policy.

1. Overview

CodeEdit is a local file and code editor for Android. You open folders and files through the Android Storage Access Framework (SAF). The app is designed so that your document contents stay on your device unless you explicitly share them with another app.

2. Data we handle

2.1 Local files (core product)

• The app reads and writes only the files and folders you grant via SAF.
• File contents are stored in the locations you choose (plus limited temporary app caches for performance).
• We do not operate a CodeEdit cloud service that receives your source code or documents.

2.2 On-device cache

• To speed up reopening, CodeEdit may keep a local text cache of recently opened documents in the app's private storage.
• The cache is size/entry limited and is cleared when you save or uninstall.
• This cache is never uploaded by CodeEdit.

2.3 Local debug logs

• Optional debug logging may write crash/event lines to app-private storage so you can export logs for support.
• Logs may include file names/paths and error messages. Avoid sharing logs that contain secrets.

2.4 Advertising (Google AdMob)

• The free version displays ads (for example, a banner on the home screen). The editor screens are kept ad-free.
• We use Google AdMob. Google may collect device identifiers, IP address, coarse location, and interaction data to serve and measure ads, subject to Google's policies and your device/ad settings.

2.5 Crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics)

• When a Firebase project is configured, the app may send crash stack traces and diagnostic metadata (app version, device model, OS version) to Firebase Crashlytics.
• Crash reports are used for reliability only, not to read your document contents.
• Until Firebase is configured, only local crash logs are kept on the device.

2.6 Network

• Internet access is used for ads, crash reporting (when enabled), and for loading remote content you open in previews (for example, an HTML file linking to external resources). Local editing does not require a network connection.

3. Permissions

We do not request broad “all files” access.

4. Children

CodeEdit is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). Do not use the app if you are under the applicable age without a parent or guardian as required by law.

5. Data sharing

• Advertising: Google AdMob and advertising partners as described by Google.
• Crash diagnostics: Google Firebase, when enabled.
• Other apps: Only when you choose “open with”, share, or the system chooser.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Data retention

• Local files: controlled by you and the storage provider.
• Local cache/logs: until cleared by app limits, uninstall, or storage cleanup.
• Ad/crash data: retained by Google under their policies.

7. Your choices

• Revoke folder/file access in Android settings at any time.
• Uninstall the app to remove app-private cache and logs.
• Limit ad personalization via your device or Google account ad settings where available.
• Contact us to request deletion of support emails you have sent us.

8. Security

We use standard platform protections (app sandboxing, HTTPS for network SDKs). No method of electronic storage or transmission is fully secure.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change; material changes will be reflected in the Play Store listing and/or an in-app notice where required.
